FICS Teams at International Games

Volunteering at Games as part of the FICS Sports Chiropractic team brings with it many rewards. The experience of volunteering at international games and events isn’t just about watching the Games, mingling with the athletes or thriving on the positive vibes that the event exudes from every pore. Taking part is as much about cultural-exchange and helping athletes perform naturally, as it is about the event.

Your time as a volunteer at games has many rewards:
Comradery – Multisport injuries – International Games - International Athletes - Generosity - Gratitude from athletes/event organizers/other professions working at games.

You join a truly worldwide movement and are spreading the benefits of sports chiropractic to even more corners of the world, showing the role which, we play in supporting athletes.

Below are some reports from Games during the 2019 year.

FICS Member Recognition Awards

One of the key activities of FICS is the provision of sports chiropractic services at international events. This helps to service our vision of access to sports chiropractic for all athletes, as well as opening opportunities for relationships with various sporting federations. In order to fulfil this area of activity, FICS relies on sports chiropractors taking time out of their practice and volunteering their time to treat athletes at these events. FICS is not in a position whereby we can pay our members to attend events. It is, however, important to recognise the service of the valuable people contributing in this way.

Upcoming Games in 2019

International Sporting Federations Commission
DR SIMON LAWSON - COMMISSION CHAIR

As part of the restructure and reorganization of FICS that has taken place over the past year, a decision was made to combine the International Federations and Games Commission’s to form the new International Sporting Federations Commission (ISFC). It has taken a year to finally get this commission in place and functioning. I am proud to report that the ISFC has recently completed its inaugural quarterly commission meeting and is up and running.

The structure of the new commission is designed to create a greater reach across the globe to enhance communication and network structures both within FICS and the broader International Sporting Federation’s community; to empower more leadership and inclusion in FICS; streamline our service offering and delivery, and maximize our resources.

Great honor for Ron Froehlich

Ron Froelich

Ron Froehlich, Honorary Life President of the International World Games Association, has been named an Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Distinguished American Sportsman for 2015. This was announced by the Board of Directors of the State of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday. The 47th Annual Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel.

Ron Froehlich said about the announcement: “Of course I feel honored. But I am convinced that this induction gives reputation to The World Games, too. It will help to promote this event.” The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham/Alabama in 2021. IWGA President José Perurena sent his congratulations to his predecessor in office: “This induction is well deserved because for more than two decades Ron Froehlich was the engine of The World Games. Moreover, he made our success happen.”
